WHY IS THIS NEEDED?
A reset is needed on the values informing the Canadian technology and innovation agenda. Canada's values are not winner-take-all. The distance and power balance between those who develop and commercialize the technology coming to market, and our collective public capacity to manage it, needs attention.
We believe in:
- Public access to digital infrastructure tools: Transparency and co-designed policy for public digital infrastructure and data use. Guidelines around private use of public space and digital infrastructure are critical to protect residents and grow public power.
- Addressing the yawning tech gap between private and public sectors: Public servants do not have the tools they need to do their jobs. Government tech infrastructure is in crisis - addressing this must be prioritized adjacent to investing in private sector growth
