Building a Different Internet and Different Internet Access Models
How does the internet work? Who does it work for? How could it work differently?
These are the kinds of questions that inform our work on reclaiming the internet. One of the projects we are working on currently in Toronto to explore alternative internet access models is called ConnectTO.
The project was formally launched by the City of Toronto with the release of its report “Affordable Internet Connectivity for All - ConnectTO” on January 13, 2021.
Tech Reset Canada is working with a number of community organizations to use the ConnectTO pilot project as a way to increase alternative internet infrastructures and business models. The next milestone in this project will be a community consultation session to gather requirements for the City’s procurement process.
Join us to stay informed about this project and to join us in the work we’re doing to support different ways of accessing and using the internet.
